Articulated Hybrid Deceiver Jig -5th Anniversary Edition
In the vertical jigging world, either soft plastics or hair jigs are the two dominant choices for multiple species of freshwater and marine gamefish. What if you took the best of both worlds and hybridized them into the ultimate weapon designed for trophy Pacific halibut off the coast of Alaska? Originally field tested during late summer 2025 off Valdez in Prince William Sound, the Articulated Hybrid Deceiver Jig debuted. A 59" halibut (98-103 weight estimation) was caught during Labor Day weekend offshore into Prince William Sound with the 14" 16-ounce model prototype. The Articulated Hybrid Deceiver Jig features a 8" soft plastic magnum curly tail grub from Action Plastics (USA made in Alabama). The 8" inch magnum curly tail grub is screwed into an extra large corkscrew pin articulated to the main jig hook shank of the halibut jig head with 150 pound. braid. Available in two options: (1) a 14-inch 16-ounce swimbait head and (2) a 16-inch 24-ounce ultimate bullet head. Upper back and underbelly of hybrid hair jig features mixed composition of bucktail and squimpish hair. Thus, this mixed blend of natural and synthetic hair combines an unique, life-like action when vertical jigged compared to pure plastic which only involves tail action. Lateral line is composed of three strands of teal blue Lateral Scale Flashabou, operculum tied with oversized Whiting hen saddle blue grizzly feather, and topping with peacock herl via cerulean blue and purple holographic flashabou. This specific model features advanced 18mm 3-D holographic eyes from Dead Meat Customs. Overall, this is the first hybridized hair jig released from Musky Mike Flies with more realistic models being released in 2026.
